[OSGeo-UK] qgis-bin.exe is not responding

Hi Ann

Check that QGIS is being started via the .bat file, not by calling the .exe directly. I don't think that will be the cause, but it's still worth checking.

Thanks

Tom

Subject: [OSGeo-UK] qgis-bin.exe is not responding

Hello

I am new to this scene, so apologies if I am going about this in the wrong way.

We have a particular user who is not able to use a particular machine. We believe it is the combination of the person and the PC that is the issue. The window shows: qgis-bin.exe is not responding

In the event viewer we have the following error:

Activation context generation failed for "C:\PROGRA~2\QGISES~1\apps\Python27\lib\site-packages\PIL\_imagingft.pyd". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found.

I understand this means there is some left behind trace of a previous install which is causing conflict with the current situation for this user. I am not sure how to clear all this out, bar recreation of the user's profile. Maybe that is my only option.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you
