I think that’s an excellent idea, Jo.
I will ask our budget holders again about opportunities to contribute to the projects and applications we use.

Subject: [OSGeo-UK] Contributing to PostGIS development
Hi UK folk,
Regine Obe, one of the core PostGIS developers, has recently created a Patreon account to assist with funding the aspects of her PostGIS work that are not covered by client funding. See https://www.patreon.com/reginaobe
Firstly, I'd like to propose that we as the UK chapter commit to funding $50 a month for 12 months, with the option to renew at the end of that time. We have the funds to do that at present. If there are objections, please contact me, either on or off list.
Secondly, I'd like to urge other organisations out there that benefit from PostGIS in any way to consider contributing to Regina's Patreon too. If you have trouble convincing those that hold the purse strings to contribute to an individual's Patreon account, then talk to us, as I'm sure we can come to some arrangement where you donate to OSGeo:UK and we donate to Regina on your behalf. She is trying to raise $800 a month, and it would be great if the UK Open Source community could help her meet that target.
Finally, we're going to start thinking about some guidelines for how we might decide to fund other individual developers, should the opportunity arise. I'll send out a link to a google document that we can use for editing purposes within the next few days.
All the best
Jo
