Very many spatial packages in R depend on the GDAL library (see a rough
listing of packages below, if you use any of these or packages they depend
on it's very likely you are a user of GDAL too).

From gdal.org, and announced on gdal-dev:

https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/gdal-dev/2024-October/059730.html

> The GDAL project is currently soliciting feedback to help focus GDAL
Sponsorship Program activities.

> We would highly appreciate you fill in the survey that will provide
guidance about priorities for the program's resources (open until November
11th, 2024).

The survey is available here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdMXygtDb5M0Ov0KK0u2wKkev1rMqAjRdTlwMeCl7Z1TGJTLw/viewform

Please fill it out to help guide future efforts in the GDAL project.
