I admit to being one of those; not because Drupal was a better platform, but because it is quick and easy to set up, we were under severe time constraints, and there were no experienced volunteers to set up Plone.
 
I do have some experience with Drupal, but unfortunately none with internationalization.
 
If we are running into limitations with Drupal, we will probably eventually want to transition to something else, but that's a real life-sucking experience.
