The Venus installation looks simple:
1. unpack
2. python runtests.py
3. edit config.ini
4. python planet.py /path/to/config.ini
Where step 4 goes to cron.
Plus, I presume there are some steps required to configure Apache and
planet.osgeo.org subdomain.
So, I don't expect there is a broad access needed.
