This is the entire reason for FeatureServer. Licensing issues are maybe
a distant second, but I needed something that I could drop on any
machine, and have it work. With pure-python libraries, it's possible to
actually set up a full Geographic Feature Server via FS on any platform
-- Windows, Mac, OS X. This means that I can do things like
http://labs.metacarta.com/on-a-stick/ -- which I don't have the ability
to do with something with larger dependancies.
