[FOSS4G-UK] Speaker diversity

Hi all,

How is the speaker diversity looking in all the venues? Last year the lack of diversity was one of the main criticisms of the meeting.

This year all five of the speakers that submitted talks to BGS were male, although at least not all European. When Rachel and I drafted the schedule, we have added two empty slots. Our plan is to individually contact each of the women on the registration list and to encourage them to submit a talk.

Has anyone got any other suggestions for increasing the range of speaker backgrounds?

Cheers
John
