[GRASS5] compile short-cut?

Is there any way to short-cut the compile process?  There's a few
broken makefiles (which do things that don't need to be done), plus it 
takes *forever* for all those makes to run.

Ahhhh, I see.  I can run make like this to compile the current directory:
    make -f OBJ.i586-pc-linux-gnu/make.rules
