UPDATE: Now I get the Google layers, no idea what made it not work before
(google in my country on strike ? ;-)

As to your problem: Are you sure the transformation from whatever projection
your data was originally in to the sphericalMercator is done correctly by
whatever mapserving software you have? It looks like a typical datum-shift,
ie. the projected coordinates are transformed, but without the proper shift
from the datum of the original projection (whatever that is) to the datum of
sphericalMercator (WGS84). Such datum-shifts are typically up to a few 100
m...
