Sorry.

But IMHO that rather small issue got much more attention (and did and still
does cause much more distraction) than it deserves.

And I can't disagree that that time could have been better spend - while there
was an upcoming release to test. ;)

I agree again - but I don't think it's worth forming a committee.  YMMV of
course. ;)
