Hi Richard, 

 regarding 1) I am not sure if word wrap is supported in column headers.
It is for sure supported in cell content, but probably not in the column
headers. Nyall Dawson knows best about it. 

2) Unfortunately I have no experience with annotations. With labels it
is certainly possible, as Saber mentioned, but with annotations perhaps
not. Unfortunately it seems like annotations do not support any rules or
expressions and probably also not the layer visbility/style presets ;-(
annotations are unfortunately not real map layers - so there are a lot
of limitations. 

3) should now be solved by the help of Saber. 

Sorry, that I don't have any better feedback. Perhaps Nyall knows more.
