Good suggestion. The research is really focussed on the products; how we get there is really the interesting part. FOSS solutions can certainly be considered. I should have been more explicit about that in the advert.

ummm Julian, where's the FOSS GIS in this position?

Surely as a University you should be training people with FOSS to focus on theory and to empower them when they leave?

How about listing some FOSS experience as being advantageous incl:
Opticks, OTB, GRASS, QGIS etc. ?

We need to build RS capacity in SA and the most accessible tools to do that with are FOSS.
