Hi Heidi

Thanks so much for sharing the links and info below. One other query - I’m a bit confused about the license:

"This data may not be reproduced by any means, nor redistributed via web site or ftp site, without prior permission. Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of data, users are advised to use the data and conclusions drawn from its use with caution. Users noting errors and omissions are requested to notify BGIS. These data are not for resale or replicating. This digital version is in the public domain requiring only the conventional acknowledgement of source in publications and reports.”

It seems to be telling us conflicting things -

1) The data cant be republished without permission and that it cant be resold or replicated
2) That the data is in the public domain

"Public domain” means that 1) above would be invalid:

It might be better to explicitly give the data a license such as CC-BY-SA which requires source acknowledgement

Or find an appropriate alternative if that doesn’t work for you by browsing the page here:

By the way, if you are using QGIS 3 you can easily add this and other services hosted by SANBI by creating new ArgGISMapServer connection in the browser panel with a URL like this:

http://bgismaps.sanbi.org/arcgis/rest/services/2012NVMbeta2/MapServer <http://bgismaps.sanbi.org/arcgis/rest/services/2012NVMbeta2/MapServer>
