I guess I'm confused; why is the board list itself not an appropriate venue
for this kind of discussion?
All members of the OSGeo community are welcome to participate here, and I think
that the ex-board members hold a significant amount of impact and sway in
the community -- otherwise they wouldn't have been on the board to begin with.
Encouraging ex board members to remain on the board mailing list and
offer their advice at any point seems perfectly reasonable and wise to
me. On the other hand, hosting a private mailing list for ex-board members
seems unnecessary to me.
If someone can explain to me why the board list itself is not an ideal
venue for this, I am interested to hear.
