Dear Johan

excellent point. But let me think a bit more how to exploit your suggestion: besides the "normal" registration we have also the sponsorship package (http://europe.foss4g.org/2015/#sponsors) . Probably this should be better highlighted  also in the registration paragraph. And sponsors attendees  should have also a special badge, with special color, corresponding to their generous offer. Does it make sense?

Maria,

Thanks for keeping the costs down - it helps to be an inclusive community!

On the other hand, conferences like this are perhaps one of the few ways commercial and governement entities can sponsor Osgeo easily. They often don't mind paying a fee for a conference and workshops whereas sponsoring is going through entirely different departments. I guess it is too late now, but for the future we could perhaps consider having two prices: a standard price and a 'starving hacker' price (better name suggestions welcome). The latter could be for students, charter members and others who apply.

Anyway, looking forward to the conference!

Marco and I have made some simulations about possible registration fees. The idea is to keep them as lower as possible. We will provide the basic facilities ( rooms, staff for registration, technical staff for the computer rooms, ...) and then considering how many people will register and/or how many sponsors we'll have we will add the extras (t-shirts, coffee breaks, ice-breaker party, lunches, and so on). USB keys will kindly offered by GFOSS, the Italian association of Free and Open Source GIS (thanks!).

Here the fees we need at least to start the conference:

100 euro for normal registration and 50 euro for students before 30th April 2015 (Early Bird)

200 euro for normal registration and 100 for students after 30th April 2015

It seems me reasonable costs. I hope to have many people to be able to offer more and more.

In few days Nick will prepare also this page and then, at least, the first step is done!
