The current statistic is:
OSGeo mailman server unique subscribers 2012_09_01: 19160

The number in the Wikipedia article is too high. My monthly cronjob shows
only subscribers with a *valid* email address, bounced addresses being
filtered out.

Here roughly the numbers:
