I successfully installed the libtiff4 rpm. I originally got the
following message:

[root at ampt Downloads]# rpm -Uvh libtiff4-4.0.3-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
        libtiff-devel conflicts with libtiff4-4.0.3-1.el6.x86_64

I removed libtiff-devel and several other devel packages that depended
on libtiff-devel and then libtiff4 installed fine. Even though it
conflicts with libtiff-devel, it coexists with libtiff just fine.

[root at ampt Downloads]# rpm -qa | grep tiff
libtiff-3.9.4-6.el6_3.i686
libtiff-3.9.4-6.el6_3.x86_64
libtiff4-4.0.3-1.el6.x86_64
libgeotiff-1.3.0-4.el6.x86_64

I think you do need to create a libgeotiff4 that uses libtiff4. I can
still use gdal, but it won't create BigTIFFs so I assume it is using
libgeotiff-1.3.0, which is still using libtiff-3.9.4. Will you also
need to recompile all of the applications to use libgeotiff4?

This is great progress and thanks for getting to this so quickly.

Hello,

I have merged Peter's spec file, updated to the latest libtiff
(v4.0.3) and deployed to ELGIS6 Testing x86_64.

I haven't tested it. Please kindly test it and give us feedback.

Should we also create a libgeotiff4 based on libtiff4 ?

Cheers,

Mathieu
