Hi There.

Attached the final version of the call for papers... I have included both a
word version and pdf. 

We are happy that this gets distributed as is.

Gavin are you going to send this with the bulk mailer?

I would rather not commit to participate in the peer review - I will have
more than enough to do with out it.

Inge,

I'm sending you my comments in the e-mail as the DOC is getting difficult
to read with all the changes:

1. In the second paragraph there is a 'used' that should be 'use':
While Free and Open Source GIS is our focus, you are also welcome to
submit papers for the 'applied' topics that ****used***** proprietary or
mixed GIS

2. I would really appreciate if we could include "Land information and
administration (cadastre, address data, etc.)" under the second list of
topics.  One more topic in that long list will not change the general
topic of the conference. As you know, address data is my pet topic :-).

3. My suggestion for this sentence in the paragraph on the Academic Track
is given below.
The date of submission for abstracts of 500-600 words to the academic
track is the 12 May 2008.  The abstracts submitted for peer review, will
be reviewed by the Program Committee of the academic track of FOSS4G 2008.
--> The date for submission of abstracts to the academic track is 12 May
2008.  Abstracts have to be 500-600 words in length and will be reviewed
by the Program Committee of the academic track of FOSS4G 2008.

4. Looks like a typo in the third last sentence ('be' should be 'been'):
Please note that your paper or presentation will only be included in the
proceedings once your registration to the conference has ***be*** received
in full.

In response to your questions:
--> Yes, of course, you have a choice.  It's all up to you.  If you think
you will not have the time (I'm assuming the general presentations etc
will keep you busy...), I would prefer to find out now rather than in
June.  And the same goes for the SACJ review.

I agree that the call can go out now, but the website should be ready
before you send out any e-mails. For example, for the academic track only
'Peer Reviewed' should be checked on the Track Policies, the timeline
should be updated, and what is "Proposal Submission"?  Should it be
"Abstract Submission"???  I see you forwarded my earlier e-mail to Gavin. 
I was not able to figure out how to modify those things on the website
(and maybe I'm not supposed to be able to modify them but someone should).

Will you let me know the e-mail lists to which you are sending the call. 
I will try to think of others who would also be interested then.
