Where did you get the patch? I suspect it is out of date. Try replacing
grassdataset.cpp with:

http://mpa.itc.it/radim/qgis/gdal/grassdataset.cpp3

And be sure you are using this patch for configure.in:

http://mpa.itc.it/radim/qgis/gdal/configure.in.patch2
