I suppose that the silence on this thread denotes the implicit agreement  :-)

I also support this RFC, changing the layout of the metadata structure
not always require an RFC to have, since it might be internal to a
particular dataset type. In this particular case, however, a fair
amount of the drivers are affected for the convergence of the
interpretation. Shouldn't we pull any of the values as a separate
property of the dataset and the band if it is widely used?
