[gdal-dev] Unknown base item type : 4+error occurs when open a *.img file

When i am using the fillowing code i got the    error:Unknown base item type
: 4


DataSet ds=GDal.Open(".....\File1.IMG",Access.GA_ReadOnly);

why this error ocuurs.........
