Suchith,
Congratulations! Your shortest note ever!!!
Yes, Maria certainly has her work cut out for her!
We are giving her an ocean of info
and all she has is a thimble to carry it all in!
Her time with the UN will be short and probably chaotic.
If anything meaningful can be captured by the UN folks,
that would be truly extraordinary!
Buona Fortuna Maria!

Patrick, thanks for sharing this very relevant info. Hopefully Maria will be able to show the video demo of Europa Challenge app, eLocust3D at the meeting but more importantly discuss ideas with participants on how we can build synergies with the Europa Challenge to expand more ideas/collaborations with the UN organisations for more ideas.

Also it will be good to highlight one Europa Challenge app in each month's Geo4All newsletter. May i request you to select one and prepare a short article for the newsletter. It serves two purpose
1. Hightlights the excellent work of a great team
2. Promotes Europa challenge and inspire new students and SMEs to build innovative applications for future.

I have no idea how best for you to use this information, but a Europa Challenge app, eLocust3D [1], is in several hundred FAO tablets throughout North Africa as part the UN locust intervention program [2][3], and WorldWind is in dialogue with UNOSAT for their interest in WorldWind. I consider these all of these activities to be under the OSGeo tent. And certainly of proven value as well as future value to the UN.

I agree with Nikos and Suchith. Alongside this -clever- approach to the UN OpenGis Initiative it will be good to try a collaboration between Geoforall and other UN Agencies, mostly Unesco (also Unicef, Fao...). Maria, do you think it will be appropriate to talk about this in the workshop? (I mean, in the coffee-break)

Hi Maria,

Yes, it will be great to have a special issue. In fact, we can have an issue with articles from UN only and cover as many topics as they would like to. I mean, it is not necessary to cover only the topic of the workshop you are into. It will be very interesting to promote their ideas on the educational sector of UN.
Please, have a discussion with them and we will proceed accordingly.

Wishes
Nikos

Thanks! I'll present the newsletter on Wednesday during my presentation at UN. I want also to propose them a special session of the newsletter dedicated to UN with the updates of UN geospatial unit activities.
Do you agree?
In case, I can help on that.
Cheers.
Maria
