[GeoNode-devel] GeoNode versions confusion

Hi all,
I'm trying to understand which is the "right" version of GeoNode to use,
since the README in GitHub says: "The latest official release is 2.8.2!",
but the demo site says: "Fornito da: GeoNode versione 2.10rc5".

The document site (http://docs.geonode.org/en/latest/index.html)
only report versions: "latest, stable, 2.0, 1.2, master, 2.4.x".

In GitHub there are branches: "master, 2.8.x, 2.20.x" (and a few stale
branches), but no 2.10.x branch.

Inn GitHub Releases there is a "2.8.1" and a "2.10rc4",
but no "2.10rc5", as used for the demo site and no "2.8.2", as the
README says.

I developed a customization upon version "2.6.1" (customization from a
Django point of view),
but it's quite old and now I need to upgrade the base GeoNode version
it's based on,
but since I'm expecting upgrading not to be easy, I would like to avoid
having to do it more than once
in a short time.

I also read a few discussions about branches and versions naming for
Python 3/Django 2,
but I don't know which GeoNode version, if any, is actually based upon
Python 3/Django 2
and if it is already good to use for production, or not.

Is the choice only between 2.8.x and 2.10.x?
What are the diferences between them, is 2.10.x more "advanced" than
"2.8.x"?
Is "2.10.x" already ready for production (or will it be soon enough)?

Thank you very much in advance for any info.

Bye
Paolo Rizzi
