[GeoNode-users] Managed hosting options for GeoNode as a service

Hi Alessio,
Thanks so much for this response, I truly appreciate your help.
In terms of viable hosting options, generally I completely agree with you,
AWS is a good solution. But, in this case, I'm looking for a host that
offers GeoNode as a service -- all systems administration is managed by the
vendor (hosting, software updates, security of server, installation for all
GeoNode components) but the content is managed by the client. Perhaps this
isn't viable because GeoNode installs have a fair amount of configuration
that can NOT be done from within a web interface. Theming is the major
example that jumps to mind. Notably, installing a database and geoserver,
and configuring them to work with a GeoNode instance is NOT what I'm
talking about, as those are precisely the tasks I'm looking to be managed
by vendor for the client.
Maybe I should enumerate a use case
A client wants to set up a geoportal and chooses the GeoNode platform.
They have no IT infrastructure on premises. They have an employee that
presently manages their Wordpress website, which is hosted by wordpress.com.
This employee manages user accounts and permissions for access to the
website via browser. All critical updates to the server are managed by
wordpress.com. All updates to their instance of wordpress can be triggered
using the web interface. The employee can also update the site to reflect
branding changes using the web interface. When their use of server
resources exceeds their monthly plan, they are contacted by wordpress.com
and offered to upgrade their service to meet demand. The client is looking
for a similar experience for their GeoNode instance.
Maybe this use case is better suited to ArcGIS Online, or something else.
I'm all ears.
Appreciate everyone's help,
Jac
