R_parse_monitorcap: what does it do?

Hi,
    Does anyone know what the function R_parse_monitorcap does? Alternatively,
does anyone know where I could find the documnetation on it? I couldn't find
anything in the Programmer's Manual, and the source code is pretty cryptic (at
least for me). 
    I'm guessing that R_parse_monitorcap(MON_NAME,name) checks if there is a
moniter program with the name 'name'. But what do the options MON_NEXT,
MON_LINK & MON_CLOSE do?
