Thanks Eric.  I do not have a directory named /lib.

Then I must have some of the static lib and not all of it?

Well, the cc that I have now is GNU's, so I a presume It would be OK.

I can't get gcc compiled however, so I think I will join the gcc mailist and ask for some support.
