[GRASS5] how grass open and view the vector map?

   i am studying the grass5.1 with the souceinsight,but i feel lost at the 
code.now i want to load the vector library to my code in order to open and 
view the popular map file foramt such as .mif,.E00,.SHP.
   but i just can't know how to use the modules defined in the library,what 
can i do?
