[GRASS5] NVIZ freezing (?)

Setting "Grid Resolution" and Polygon Resolution to "1", NVIZ stops working 
after one hour with the following message:

.		X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).

When setting both  to "2", the screen is redrawn within a few seconds. 

SuSE 9.1 Linux
Grid Size 1300x2300
1GB RAM on a 64bit CPU
X is using 70% fo CPU time, NVIZ 20% 
no swap memory was requested

Manual says: "a resolution of 1 draws every raster cell in the current 
region."

Question: Is this a resource or a algorithm problem?
