In the script, the expression parser seems to have been implemented.
However, it is broken on my Mac and doesn't produce any results. It may be
due to issues with the database modules that will be resolved when I have
time to update, but I wonder if anyone else has had problems recently.

It (and v.univar.sh) also use "which awk" to check for the presence of awk.
This also fails on my Mac, running bash.
