 If your machine has, say 8 GB, and 8 GB are already allocated, trying to
 allocate further 241 MB will fail with an out of memory error.

 LFS for GRASS on Windows is only available in trunk, and there it is
 enabled by default. By default, Windows, also a 64 bit Windows, does not
 have LFS when using the standard API, you need to use the LFS API
 explicitly.
