GRASS 4.1 Update Package 1 is now available

This posting is to announce to the GRASS user community that the first
update package for GRASS 4.1 is now available via anonymous ftp from
moon.cecer.army.mil (IP Address: 129.229.20.254).  Included in this
update are fixes for the following GRASS and XGRASS programs:

    xgrass
    i.ortho.photo
    i.pca
    d.3d
    r.cost
    r.drain
    r.watershed
    r.slope.aspect
    r.contour
    r.neighbor
    r.thin
    r.surf.idw2
    v.cutter
    v.in.arc
    v.in.tig.lndmk
    v.in.ascii                     
    v.digit
    m.lulc.read
    m.dem.extract
    paint drivers
    p.map.new
    GIS.sh
    setup script
    xgd libes
    XDRIVER

An 'UPDATES' file which contains a more detailed description of the
changes is included with the update package.  There are two files
which you should retrieve from the grass/grass4.1/update_packages
directory on the ftp site:

	README
	upd_pkg.1.cpio.  

The README contains information about unpacking and installing the
update package.  The upd_pkg.1.cpio file contains the actual update.

If you experience problems ftping these files write email to
grass-ftp-admin at moon.cecer.army.mil.

If you have problems installing or using the update package write
email to grassbug at zorro.cecer.army.mil.

Shortly, a statically compiled binary release which includes the fixes
from this update package will also appear on the ftp site.  I will
make an annoucement in this forum at that time.
