PC-NFS 4.0 has known major bugs working with MS Windows. Suggest upgrade to
5.0. (Or at least try the 4.0A major patch).

Holy cow, upgrading the SunOS and OpenWindows would be a REALLY GOOD THING
to do. I hated Openwindows 2.0 as it was full of bugs and did not quite
contain the full X11R4 distribution. OpenWindows 3.0 is the full X11R4
distribution. Or your can be X11R5 and Motif 1.2 for $199 from Unidirect
(800)755-8649. Also, SunOS 4.1.3 is pretty stable, although the linker
gets indigestion from attempts to do dynamic linking with two of the
OpenWindows 3.0 libraries (an X11R4 defect).
