Thanks, Cristina. I was aware of dig_att. SO I tried v.out.ascii "quads" (the simpliest layer in spearfish). I had both dig_ascii and dig_att. Then I did v.to.rast. I got a layer with one category only. I got lost. --Xin Zhuang zhuang at access.digex.com
