Source code for Release 4.2 of the cartographic projection package
PROJ.4 is now available on ftp anon charon.er.usgs.gov
(128.128.40.24). Principle addition to this release is the program
`nad2nad' for performing transformation between NAD27 and NAD83 datums
by means of the NADCON tables---geographic, SPCS or UTM coordinates
may be input and/or output.

Program `proj' changes consist of a few added projections as well as
more ellipsoids and a -V option that gives much more complete
statistic of a point's projection characteristics. Most other
changes consist of correcting errors, enhancements of portability
and revised Chebychev approximation procedures.

PostScript updates to the Interim Manual will be available in about
a week, but *.1 files can be used in the meantime. Check with me
if there are questions on immediate applications.
