xgrass problem

Whenever I try to run commands from the xgrass menu, I get
the following error message:
xclip: FATAL ERROR <parsing command line arguments>
"d.vect", No such file or directory
error: cpp: /afs/umich.edu/group/lib/numeric/map/grass/etc/xclip/d.vect No such file or directory
"/afs/umich.edu/group/lib/numeric/map/grass/etc/xclip/d.vect", line 1:
<syntax error> at or near ""
I am running the compiled version of xgrass4.1 for solaris 2.3.
The directory for xgrass is /afs/umich.edu/group/lib/numeric/map/grass.
The chief executable commands grass, xgrass are in that directory.
As unpacked, xclip was in the /bin directory.
One other question about xgrass. I did not find the app-defaults
in the unpacked files. Is there another way to find it?
