ps.map help

Hi,

I'm using grass4.1, and ps.map doesn't have the capability to define and use pa
tterns in a raster file (as p.map can).  Is there an update to this problem?  I
f not, are there any simple ways around this problem?  I can think of a few way
s around it but they would be rather cumbersome.
