As an encouragment and thank you, FYI the package compiles fine on my
Debian Linux 2.0.37 machine.  

Now to see whether it actually works.  :^)

Er, one thing.  The INSTALL file needs an edit.  Currently one is advised
to apply the configure flags to the 'make install' command.  Bad mojo for
the Unix/Linux novice, or the overworked.
