[GRASSLIST:2119] metadata?

  What are folks using to store metadata with their GRASS projects? I don't
want to get as fancy as the US government standard, but I want to record the
source, original scale, original projection/coordinate system, and date of
the data. With MapInfo, I wrote ASCII files for each table. Is this my only
option still?

  Perhaps someone would devise a metadata system to be included with GRASS
if there's not already something I've missed.
