[GRASSLIST:6128] v.digit: two doubts about digitizing

Hi all;

In the Digitizing (v.digit) menu there is an option to toggle the"mode" 
between point and stream, but the key to toggle between these modes is not 
shown. Is it because I'm digitizing with the mouse, that I can't use the 
stream mode? (I guess that stream means that it is possible to draw a free 
continous line. Isn't it?)

The other question is about snapping: I am going to digitize "area edges", 
and it seems that the snappings just refer to the begin and end of the lines 
(nodes?). But I've got an area, and I want to draw another one that has one 
of its sides coincident with part of one (longer) side of the previously 
drawn area; is it possible to snap to the middle of the line (like the "close 
to" in Autocad) , or at least to one of the points of the middle of the line 
(so I could split in two the larger side before snapping)?
