[GRASSLIST:1620] Compile sdts2arc

I need to import USGS SDTS DEMs, and r.in.gdal is still not installed 
on my grass release on MacX.

For this resaon, I'm triyng to follow the method explained in 
http://grass.itc.it/faq/importing_usgs_7_5min.html, but I am not able 
to compile the sdts2arc.c program (the makefile does not work), 
required to transform the data from sdts format to arc format.
How can I compile sdts2arc.c ?
