[GRASSLIST:9649] Finding clusters/means in vector data

Hi,

I have vector points with values. I need to find mean values / point
clusters with similar values.
Those points can belong to more than one cluster and thus there may
bee more than one mean value for different areas, or there may be no
clusters/means at all (just "noise").

Are there any methods that can be used to find points/cells that
belong together or form some related area?

Simple statistical methods do not fit - they ignore spatial distribution.

Any ideas, hints welcome.

Yes, I have heard about R, but I couldn't find what I need. If You
know better how it can be done with R, please, tell from where to
start.

Tnx for reading,
wbr,
Maris.
