[GRASS-user] Display Of Tiff Raster file Stored on HDD in Grass

I am a new grass user,I have Installed the grass-6.2.3 on my system.but i m
not able to Import & display  the raster image.(Tiff Image) which is kept on
my hard disk 50 mb in size..
could anyone tell the way to see the raster image,i am looking for the
standard document for using grass.if anyone having this document,please
forward it to me..
