what does "g.region -p" say in both source and target mapsets?
i.e. is the resolution so fine that rows x cells is some huge number?

was the location copied from a CD-R & directory structure retains some
read-only permissions?

does g.tempfile work from the command line?

what do you want to know?
- Packaging is handled by the DebianGIS team,
    http://wiki.debian.org/DebianGis
- In Lenny will be GRASS 6.2.3
    http://packages.debian.org/grass
- GRASS 6.3.0(+) for Lenny will be hosted in backports.org, and 6.3.0(+)
will be added to testing & sid after Lenny is released.
- If you want to build 6.3/4 from SVN you can build your own package, see
debian/README.debian in the source code to get preparatory DebianGIS
6.3/4 build control rules for that.
- If you want to build 7.x from SVN see the Debian compile instructions
in the GRASS wiki pages. We don't have anything in the DebianGIS SVN
   for that yet.
