[GRASS-user] startup error

Greetings!
Whenever I start up GRASS 6.4.2 using Fedora 18 I get the message:

Cleaning up temporary files ...
Starting GRASS ...

(python:10541): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_widget_get_direction: assertion 
`GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

(python:10541): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_widget_get_direction: assertion 
`GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

and then the system starts running.  Is this something I need to fix?  
If so, how should I proceed?
