Hi,

I wonder if this is related to this ticket:
http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/ticket/2448

You can try for example displaying legend - it might not display any
numbers. In that case, try to run:
g.mkfontcap -o

in a GRASS session and afterwards try to rerender legend to see if it
helped.
