Hi Jonathan, I think you have two files: C:\cygwin\usr\X11R6\bin\startxwin.sh C:\cygwin\usr\X11R6\bin\startxwin.bat If you are inside the Cygwin, you can run 'startxwin.sh'. From outside the Cygwin you can run 'startxwin.bat'. If you use startxwin.bat, you have fewer open windows. Sorry for my former imprecise message! I hope this helps. Csaba
