Hi Etienne,

thanks a lot for looking at the german lizmap-mailinglist!

I see the landing page of lizmap with two demo projects (when logged in
there are three), but I can't load and display the maps.

In the lizmapConfig.ini.php I have changed the URL for QGIS server to
https://myserver/cgi-bin/qgis_mapserv.fcgi? ("myserver" in this mail
replaces the actual server name; remark "https" - the QGIS server runs
with port 443) and the result in the administration panel, server
information, is the following:

      QGIS Server

QGIS Server is correctly installed and returns the expected response for
OGC requests.

*We cannot get the details about your QGIS Server installation (version,
plugins, etc.).*

You must check that the following steps are done :

 1. *QGIS Server* is above or equal to *3.28 is 3.40.8
    *
 2. The *Lizmap QGIS server plugin* is installed on the server with a
version above or equal to *2.13.0 is true
    *
 3. The URL to reach QGIS server is *correct* in your administration
panel probably true since it says above "QGIS Server is correctly
    installed..."
 4. The URL to reach the Lizmap API on QGIS Server is *correct* in your
administration panel, if you use Py-QGIS-Server maybe the URL is
wrong, but I don't  know how to access this tag or where I can
modify it and what is correct. I don't use py-qgis-server.
 5. Your Lizmap Web Client *logs* does not contain any warnings about
    reaching QGIS server see below
 6. The *environment variable* about the *Lizmap server plugin*
described in the documentation link below is correctly set in your
configuration The conf-file in /etc/apache2/sites-available contains
    the tag FcgidInitialEnv QGIS_SERVER_LIZMAP_REVEAL_SETTINGS True
 7. Your QGIS server *logs* does not contain any warnings about the
Lizmap server plugin (at QGIS server startup and when loading this
webpage). You might need to increase debug level.

The errors.log says:

2025-07-01 13:44:07    137.248.191.3    error    The HTTP request ended
with an error. HTTP code 500. →
https://myserver/cgi-bin/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?/lizmap/server.json
2025-07-01 13:44:07    137.248.191.3    error    The HTTP request ended
with an error. HTTP code 500. →
https://myserver/cgi-bin/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?service=WMS&request=GetCapabilities

The lizmap-admin.log says:

2025-07-01 13:44:07    137.248.191.3    lizmapadmin    An HTTP request
ended with an error, please check the main error log. HTTP code 500.
2025-07-01 13:44:07    137.248.191.3    lizmapadmin    QGIS server
minimum 3.28 and Lizmap QGIS server plugin minimum 2.13.0 need to be
installed and configured correctly. Your QGIS server couldn't be reached
correctly with the given URL "https://myserver/cgi-bin/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?".

The qgis.demo.error.log says:

<ServerException>Project file error. For OWS services: please provide a
SERVICE and a MAP parameter pointing to a valid QGIS project
file</ServerException>
So I changed the QGIS Server URL to
https://myserver/cgi-bin/qgis_mapserv.fcgi?SERVICE=WMS&MAP=/var/www/lizmap-web-client-3.8.11/lizmap/lizmap-modules/lizmapdemo/qgis-projects/demoqgis/montpellier.qgs

But it didn't work.

I suppose, there are several mistakes in the configuration. For example
I don't know, which files must be accessible by www-data. One of our
certificate files for https is protected by a passphrase. I have no idea
if this has an impact.

Any hint might be helpful. Thank you very much in advance.

Best wishes,

Christiane
