[mapguide-users] Trouble making web layout work from session repository

There might be an UTF-8 header in the Xml.
Try downloading the modified file, and check it with a hex editor.
There should be no bytes before the "<" character.
I have filed a bug report on the problem.

Also, ensure that the document is encoded in UTF-8 (still without the 
header).
