[mapguide-users] Newbie's learning curve - database to get started
with?

Hi all.
So far I learned how to install and start MGOS, how to put raster images on
my map, how to tweak an ajaxviewer, how to put shape files on the map, and
all this was great learning curve. This is enough to create a simple map. My
obvious next step would be to engage some database to make map really
functional.
So, before I dig in, what would you recommend? What database to choose? I
would prefer a database which can communicate with MGOS, and if possible, it
would be great if I can transform my existing shp files and put it into such
database. If it is open source, even better. So far, as I have seen, Postgis
would be my choice, but there isn't PostgisFDO so far, as I have seen (or am
I wrong?). Next choice would be probably MySQL. If that's it, is there any
howto for newbie like me, or I should just read through mysql docs and get
started?
