Thanks, I'll have a look at the fix. 

As for backporting, if it's a bug fix and relatively benign (not likely to much anything else) or a relative major problem then it's a good candidate for back porting. Updating the bug, if you haven't already, would be a good place to start. I would think this would be a candidate since 4.8 is not behaving like 4.6...

Hello,

I fixed the bug #1684, and while I was there, I accidentally committed 
it directly to stable 4.8 branch, sorry about that. 
However, I reverted that change on branch-4-8.

So if someone has time to review "mapsymbol.c: Revision 1.93", it would be nice.
Secondly, what is the correct procedure to propose this to be back ported for 4.8.2?
